Job Description

As a Mechanical Designer with driveline expertise at Kalmar Motor, you will work broadly with design within chassis, combustion/electric engines, gearboxes, axles, cooling systems, and other details of the machines. You will define specifications for components and systems in collaboration with various departments and responsible managers. You will meet specified technical customer requirements, product safety, legal requirements, and internal requirements for our products. Your knowledge of design will be beneficial here.

In consultation with the responsible manager, you will plan and carry out activities according to set requirements and timelines. Furthermore, you will review and approve purchasing drawings regarding standards. In your role as a Mechanical Designer with driveline expertise, you will have many different points of contact, both internal and external, where your communication skills will come in handy.

You will also:

Be responsible for regularly reporting to the responsible manager regarding outcomes and any deviations.
Select design solutions, materials, and components according to customer requirements.
Initiate and order testing for verification and evaluation of a design.

The role involves you having a coordinating and demanding role, and you will become an important key person in our technical work. You will report to the Technical Manager.

Qualifications

We prefer that you have a university degree, preferably with a technical focus, and some years of work experience. Candidates with a high school background, complemented by solid experience, are also qualified.

To thrive in the role, you need to enjoy thinking independently, often outside the box, while using your existing knowledge and seeking solutions together with colleagues. You like to develop and learn new things and can make your own decisions. You need to possess good social skills as you will work with many different people both internally within Kalmar Motor and with external contacts.

As a person, you are structured and meticulous, with a good ability to see the big picture. You have a positive attitude, a strong initiative, and a curious personality, driven by tackling and solving emerging issues.

You need to be fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Experience with the CAD tool Inventor is a plus.
